These EMC visits are covered by OHIP and subsized by My Heart Fitness Clinics. It is offered at no cost to you.

MY EMC APPOINTMENTS

1. Exercise Medicine Clinic (EMC) INTAKE MEDICAL

This is an opportunity for us to meet and learn about you! This visit includes:

  • consultation with a Registered Kinesiologist about your exercise plan and goals
  • telemedicine visit with our program Cardiologist

At the end of your first visit, you will receive an exercise prescription that you can start right away! It is designed for you and is specific to your personal needs, current health condition and fitness goals. 


NOTE:  You will NOT be exercising at this office visit.

2. Exercise Medicine Clinic (EMC): Field Trial

This session is scheduled 1-2 weeks after your intake session.  This visit includes:

  • supervised exercise session on the indoor walking/running track at the Milton Velodrome or using aerobic equipment.    
  • education on safe exercise guidelines
  • review of current home exercise 
  • revised aerobic exercise prescription

3. Exercise Medicine Clinic (EMC): Reassessment

This follow-up session is scheduled to review your progress on your home exercise routine, discuss any questions/concerns you have about your exercise prescription and health goals for continued success!  During one of these sessions we will also provide exposure to a variety of resistance exercises for isolated muscle groups with regards to safety and technique.

FOR EXERCISE SESSIONS

Additional Information

 Please come ready to exercise. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for exercise. 

  • Arrive 15mins before your class to have your blood pressure and heart rate checked. 
  • Bring a water bottle with you to stay hydrated. 
  • Eat a light meal/snack beforehand. You should not be fasting before you exercise.  
  • If you have diabetes - please bring your glucometer to check your blood sugar before and after exercise. Bring a snack/juice with you to treat a low blood sugar.
